Transwarp is the name of the software used for 2Quest Entertainment. It is designed for flexibility to minimize the time required creating new (yet undefined) games. Currently four different games are available. Creating these games required very little programming. Most of the time was spend on the actual game design, which is good.

Flexibility
The flexibility of Transwarp is mainly achieved through .xml files. All logic (events, graphics, game data and objects) is stored in these .xml files. It doesn't matter how many items you define in the .xml files, the software will process everything you add to it without any complaints. All this means the game designer doesn't have to worry about software limitations, he can design and built games quickly.

Version names
Version names of Transwarp are based on Western and Japanese chess pieces. A release of Transwarp containing a new game gets a new Western rank while sub releases of Transwarp will get a Janapese chess like promotion name.

Western names
  • Pawn
  • Knight
  • Bishop
  • Rook
  • Queen
  • King
  • Japanese promotion names
  • Silver
  • Gold

  • The current Transwarp version is : Transwarp Bronse-Rook

What happens if Transwarp runs out of version names? I certainly hope so because that means Transwarp is a succes and supports more than 6 games. I might introduce Chinese chess piece names. I'll think about it some more when the time comes.
